Friday: Encaustic Wax Painting 6th February 2026

£95.00

This Friday daytime class explores Encaustic Wax Painting which is both an ancient and contemporary medium that creates subtle, layered surfaces of coloured painterly wax with a wonderful misty finish. We add oil paint or pigment to the heated wax, and can also embed collage and small objects into medium, along with oil painting directly on different layers. In the morning we will have a demonstration of Encaustic Wax painting, followed by exploring different ways of using it and colour layering, leading to a finished piece in the afternoon. Friday 6th February 10.00 - 4.00pm.

Level: All Levels Tutor: Alison Hand

Materials provided - Beeswax, surfaces, oil paints. We recommend bringing some images / photographs / textile fragments / small objects which interest you to embed in the wax layers.
