Resident Artist Programme

We are delighted to introduce our six month mentored Resident Artist Programme starting September 2025, at our new teaching studios and workshop complex near the Marina and beach in the East Sussex town of Newhaven.

Whether you are new to artistic practice, a more established artist looking to focus your practice, or wanting to re-engage with an artistic peer group and environment – our residency programme will support you through offering studio space, tuition, practical skills workshops, and professional development.

Our six month programme includes:

  • Dedicated studio space in an artist studio and workshop complex with fellow residency programme peer group

  • One-to-one tutorial sessions at key points during the programme with Cement Mentors

  • Two 5 day taught practical workshop classes in sculpture, painting, and drawing

  • Opportunities to participate in group crits building networks with residency peer group

  • Professional development support, including advice on applications; website; artist statement writing; the commissioning process; working with galleries; selling work

  • A graduate exhibition at the end of the course in the BN9 Gallery Space in Newhaven
